Ari and Ethan’s McGuire/ McDonald Barrrrrr Mitvah was a coalescence of hard work, family togetherness, and perseverance. Cantor Rita Glassman and cousin Lisa patiently schooled and focused Ari with his Hebrew portion.
Ari’s insistence on wearing a 100% wool pin stripped suit he picked out at the vintage clothing store for the hottest day of the year, made me wonder if this unpredictable boy of mine would pass out before he had a chance to give his Torah portion or give his speech. How was I to know the heat didn’t faze him and his speech would be erudite and lucid?
